The rise of professional & IT services businesses in the mid-sized sector

This analysis shows that the population of mid-sized SMEs trading in the UK continues to grow – up 37% over the last 5 years. Furthermore, these businesses have grown their sales by an average of 14% over this period.

Professional & IT services is an area of particular strength in terms of its population growth (50%) and sales growth (21%). External funding is used by approximately 60% of mid-sized businesses with those businesses that do borrow generally delivering stronger sales growth than those that do not.

Feedback from advisers that some traditional lenders lack the skills to handle cashflow lending is supported by ThinCats’ experience of funding almost twice the level of Professional & IT services businesses than are being funded in the overall mid-sized borrowing market.
