£100m milestone for ThinCats Transitional Capital funding
Since inception in 2022, our Transitional Capital team, led by Stuart Thompson and Greg Beamish, has now delivered over £100m in funding to high growth businesses, facilitating more than 20 acquisitions to date. Transitional Capital enables businesses to utilize senior debt to support investments, reducing equity requirements and increasing investor returns. It is one of our most flexible debt solutions, with a back ended repayment profile linked to the investment thesis and time horizon of the investors.
The offering has the ability to commit additional capital, giving investors and management teams comfort they can borrow further to execute their strategy.
This makes it ideal for supporting buy and build strategies, or shareholder recapitalisation to provide a return to shareholders ahead of an exit.
Following the recent announcement of funding to support the buy and build strategy of Ranger Fire and Security, Transitional Capital has now been deployed to eight clients supporting more than 20 acquisitions.
ThinCats has committed additional funding to such clients, ensuring they have an appropriate capital structure to support further organic and acquisitive growth.
For example, MWA, a wealth management firm we partnered with to support the group’s plans to build a national firm of independent financial advisers, has now acquired a number of smaller IFAs and recently secured further investment from Private Equity house Coniston Capital.
This is a significant milestone for our Transitional Capital proposition and proves that there is strong appetite from ambitious management teams looking to accelerate growth using a flexible debt facility rather than giving up equityStuart Thompson, Head of Transitional Capital
"We’ve seen particular interest from mid-sized businesses in wealth management and IT service provision, generally sectors where there is greater fragmentation and more opportunity to buy and build. I look forward to supporting many more owner managers with war chests to grow their business.”
