Devizes-headquartered, award winning accountancy firm Charlton Baker has entered into a partnership with leading alternative finance provider ThinCats to support the group’s ambitious expansion plans.
The partnership with ThinCats will supercharge Charlton Baker’s buy and build strategy following a string of acquisitions in 2022. Funding has been provided to support initial purchases of A&N accountancy services (“A&N”), Innervision Accountancy Solutions (“Innervision”) and with commitment to back future acquisitions from the growing pipeline throughout the South West.
Founded in 1984, Charlton Baker has been redefining accountancy for nearly 40 years, serving a diverse customer base across the South West with an expert blend of accounting, audit and business tax; bookkeeping and payroll; business and tax advisory; personal tax; wealth, wills and probate; Cryptoassets. It’s also recently added ESG and Sustainability Advisory and Reporting to its list of services it provides to clients.
Managing Director, Scott Sartin, who joined the business in 1996, has spearheaded progress as Charlton Baker has continued to build on its strong reputation throughout the region, growing from a single office in Devizes, to additional locations in Trowbridge and Bath, with the recent addition of Melksham, and many more new locations to follow. The last two years have been transformational for the business, with strong financial performance, office openings, and recognition as the FSB’s Best Larger Small Business of the year in the entire South West region.
The acquisitions will bolster revenues for the group and add talent and complimentary services to support a combined client base, whilst allowing Charlton Baker to increase its presence and ultimately achieve growth via scale. A&N, established in 2006 is well known throughout Wiltshire, whilst Innervision is a highly reputable firm in Trowbridge that has enjoyed good growth in recent years. There are also Bristol based acquisitions of well-established businesses on the horizon, which will provide a platform for growth in the city and surrounding areas.
Overseeing the integration of the new firms is recently recruited COO Victoria Greenard, who has a wealth of experience in successfully executing buy and build strategies.
Victoria commented; “We are delighted to welcome these fantastic businesses which will help cement our position as a leading firm in the region. There are distinct synergies between our firms with great people who not only bring new expertise but will fit the culture we have built here at Charlton Baker.”
Charlton Baker was advised by Josh Jolowicz and James Cotton at CTCF. FDD for Thincats was conducted by Martin Athey at Translink Corporate Finance and legal support provided by Paddy Sturman at Irwin Mitchell. Client legal work was done by Ben Slack at Clarion.
