Funding story

We were delighted to continue our support of global communications and digital marketing agency Clarity, with funding to facilitate the acquisition of Sefiani Communications Group, the agency’s first acquisition in Asia Pacific.

The Sydney-based agency was founded in 1999 by Robyn Sefiani, a former Edelman executive, and was named Australian Midsize PR Agency of the Year in 2022. Clients of the agency include Airbus, EY (Ernst & Young), Allen & Overy, CrowdStrike, Expedia (Stayz), Henkel and L’Oreal.

The team of 21 now joins the Clarity Global Group, adding to an existing network of offices in London, Cornwall, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Amsterdam.

Robyn Sefiani joins Clarity’s Global Presidents’ Board as President ANZ & Reputation Counsel, helping to drive growth in Asia-Pacific while providing reputation counsel to C-suite clients. Mandy Galmes continues in her position as Sefiani’s Managing Director ANZ, with Nick Owens as Director, Corporate Communications & Reputation Management, and Tina Peng as Director, Finance and Operations.

This latest acquisition follows the integration of Political Intelligence UK – one of Europe’s most established and influential public affairs agencies in October 2022 – and B2B digital marketing agency 93digital / 93x in May 2022, both deals backed by ThinCats. These acquisitions take the group to a headcount of more than 180 people globally.

This latest deal builds on Clarity’s exceptional track record of growth via M&A, a strategy it plans to pursue as it builds the next generation global marketing and communications agency.

Founder and CEO at Clarity, Sami McCabe, said Sefiani’s roster of clients matched Clarity’s own ambitions in the region.

Sefiani’s experienced, entrepreneurial and ambitious leadership team, and their high-calibre people delivering outstanding work for a world-class roster of clients, perfectly matched our ambitions. It was clear too, that Sefiani would be the perfect launchpad for further expansion across the APAC region

“Our recent acquisitions further accelerate our progress towards being a new kind of global communications agency: proudly independent, combining the magic of storytelling with the science of data to help solve our client’s hardest challenges and seize their biggest opportunities.”

James Osbiston, Director, Business Development, ThinCats commented; “This latest acquisition for Clarity represents another important step for the group as they expand their global footprint and offerings. It is a pleasure to work with their team as they continue to build a truly next generation global marketing and communications agency. I am looking forward to seeing them take the business to even greater heights.”
